Pawsitive Initiative is owned and operated by me, Ellen Gagliano ABCDT. Born and raised on Long Island, my husband and I relocated to Upstate New York in 1998 and ultimately settled in the beautiful Helderbergs. I service most of the Capital Region from Albany, Delmar, Glenmont, Slingerlands and Voorheesville, to Altamont and Guilderland and the surrounding Hilltowns.
I refer to the training portion of my business as "Ain't Miz-behavin!" My philosophy is that a relationship of mutual trust and respect with your dog(s) is the foundation of communication and all things to follow. Without it, training is just an exercise. My role as a Canine Behavior Counselor consists of an in-home assessment to evaluate the complete environment and all residents, and of course the dog's place in the family. This could be from one to three hours. I then develop a strategy to create harmony, and have you better understand your dog and his/her needs.
I have studied and implemented canine behavior and psychology for ten years, and I received my Dog Obedience Training certification in 2013 through the Animal Behavior College (ABC). This included a 10-part curriculum with testing and a final exam, as well as five months of hands-on training with a mentor trainer.
Let one of our dog walking team, affectionately known as the "Hounds of the Helderbergs," visit during the day and give your dogs a break and relieve that boredom and pent-up energy.*
In-home pet sitting is the cat's meow. Whether you're away for a one-day event or enjoying a relaxing two-week cruise, now you can be at peace knowing your pets are safe at home and not in a strange kennel all day with little one-on-one attention, or amid all that chaos at the vet's office. There is also the possibility of contracting parasites or disease. Your home will be safer as well with someone visiting several times a day. Please see our list of services for details.
My company is based on the belief that our customers' needs are of the utmost importance. We are committed to meeting those needs. As a result, a high percentage of our business is from repeat customers and veterinarian referrals. We are highly recommended by Albany County Veterinary Hospital.
For initial contact and inquiries, I usually respond within the hour and within 24 hours.
For services, see the Services and Rates Sheet and whatever is required for your particular situation. We are currently operating on the following schedule for all week-day pet sitting services: early morning, evening, and bedtime visits for cat and small animal care and dog feeding/walking.
